Today in Comics History, December 31, 1984, New Year's Eve: Happy New Year's Eve, Superman!

...but you can't go to any parties until you take care of the giant floating whirlpool.

from DC Retroactive: Superman: The '80s one-shot (DC, October 2011), script by Marv Wolfman, pencils and inks by Sergio Cariello, colors by Andrew Elder, letters by Pat Brosseau

...Also, don't forget to read your copy of Crisis on Infinite Earths #7.

I'm assuming that was Destiny in the purplish robe (not having read the issue) and therefore that it's Destiny's copy* and not Superman's — 'cause it didn't come out until July 4th, 1985! [*Okay, Destiny's Book of Destiny, too, and not Crisis on Infinite Earths #7, but far be it from me to keep a stuffed cow from engaging in some fourth-wall witticism...]

... BULL! I meant "bull" — I promise — but I'm pretty sure that I said "cow" in my previous comment, and I can't check or delete it because these older posts are under moderation and I didn't save the text or anything and I'm really sorry.

I don't mind being called a cow, too, Blam! I'm just delighted someone found my "Dateline: The Past" easter egg posts at last!
