"I say, Bill Foster, old bean, do be frightfully careful of that Clor fellow, won't you?...Whoopsie-daisies!"

Yesterday I wrote about how P. G. Wodehouse's American publishers changed the original titles of several of his books when they published them in the US. Which got me to thinkin'...

What If™ a popular American comic book got retitled when it was published in the UK?

Why, I think it would go something like this:
A Slight Spot of Bother #1

Which side are the roundheads?

And yet, if you look at the history of the real Marvel UK, just about every title had "Death" or "Blood" In it. :)

Yeah, this is less a UK take on Civil War than a Wodehousian take...not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

"I could see that while Spider-Man was not exactly disgruntled, he was very far from being gruntled..."

I have always wanted to do a Tony Stark/Jarvis story as Bertie and Jeeves...

"Oh, no, not the red and silver suit, sir."

"Why ever not, Jarvis? All the lads down at the Avengers think it's spiffing. Only the other day Wonder Man asked me where I had it made."

"No doubt with the intention of specifically avoiding that particular ironmonger, sir."

I was just about to comment on this but km got there first: this isn't a 'UK' take on Civil War, this is a 'stereotypical England of about 100 or so years ago' take.

A 'UK' take on Civil War would be great only if it were written by Chris Claremont and if he wrote it in all sorts of British dialects so that the whole thing read like Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting.

Still, I'd love to see this version of Civil War.

Or, better yet, other comic book events in the style of other great authors of English literature.

Like Jane Austen's Young Avengers:
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a lone superhero in possession of an ongoing comic book, must be in want of a sidekick."

Oh, wait... I seem to remember most of the bloggers did something like that quite recently (Chris Sims did Lemony Snicket's Punisher, for example). Sigh... I never come up with anything original.

I'd still love to see P.G. Wodehouse's Civil Wa- I mean, 'Slight Spot of Bother', though.

Almost as good as the Adventures of Clor.

Lovely. Just...just lovely.

Good show Bully! I think your version would do well to make Clor a Scottish God and have him dealing death while wearing a kilt and smiting enemies with Mjolinir the enchanted Bagpipes.

Naturally, the reporter guy in the series would be Psmith.

Though I think it might do better as Carry On, Clor.

Or "Harry Osborn and Dad's Army"

**I have always wanted to do a Tony Stark/Jarvis story as Bertie and Jeeves...**

Little stuffed bull, you pull that one off and I'll...

...well, if I had anything to leave you in a will, and/or if there was any immediate chance of my kicking off the mortal coil, you'd get it all. Every last penny.

Seconded, or possibly thirded. Stark as Bertie is about the only version of the character I could bear, right now.

It's the little price tag in the bottom left corner that makes this a true work of art.

And from the comments above, I now really want a Scottish Civil War, done in the style of Irvine Welsh. It would be called "Uncivil Rammy", and would be incomprehensible to anyone outside the Scottish Central Belt.
